Derailed: The Chronicles of John Doe

 Introduction

Countless times, it has been said that it is a train that usually gets derailed from its tracks. This is true considering that only a train runs on tracks and not humans who can pretty much walk on multiple different terrains. However, people are constantly confronted by yet another fact that sometimes their well-thought-out plans do get derailed from time to time. But when one man’s life plans were completely thrown off course, he sought to bring about everything back on track by working smarter and even harder like a true warrior this time around.

Chapter One

It hadn’t been that long since disaster struck, and just like everybody else John Doe was also caught by surprise and definitely off guard. How come I did not see this coming, he asked himself? Because he had always believed that something like this could never happen in his lifetime. Maybe in the future, and years after he and everybody he currently knows has long died. As a young boy; John and his friends would always ask each other one specific question. “What would you do if the government just decided to shut down access to everything and no one was allowed to roam around freely, no more traveling and everybody just has to stay home”? At first, the question seemed a bit far-fetched at the time simply because initially it didn’t seem to make sense as to why the government would do such. Unfortunately for John, this was not the best time of his life because he now finds himself in isolation.

When the national lockdown initially began, just like in many other countries around the world, a lot of people started losing their jobs and John is also one of those people who found themselves at the receiving end of the stick. Indeed times were incredibly tough. And in just a short space of time, his pockets also began to run dry and low. It really is no surprise considering the fact that at his previous job, he wasn’t earning a lot. However though; at that moment in time, the size of his wallet was the least of his worries. His biggest concern was securing a book publishing deal which could ultimately change his life forever if it were ever to materialize. For him, this was certainly a blessing in disguise because this gave him the much-anticipated opportunity to fully indulge in his writing project.  

Chapter Two

While most people began showing signs of boredom, and some were in a depressed state of mind, John on the other was really enjoying himself as this provided him with time to realize his dreams. Of course, it wasn’t easy because he soon came to realize that even though the writing was his one true passion, it required a lot from him. He soon found himself knocking on almost every publisher’s door because many of them rejected his manuscript, and most didn’t even bother writing back to him. What he didn’t know was that most publishers will never offer you a publishing deal if you do not have an impressive track record. This a much-needed record that John didn’t have because, for the most part of his existence, he was simply afraid of showing off his talents to the world. But even though that looked like it was seemingly the end, he simply wasn’t going to give up without a fight.

John decided to take matters into his own hands and to self-publish his book. He knew it was going to require a lot of hard work and dedication on his part, but he was very determined to make it happen. He spent countless hours editing and re-editing his manuscript, making sure that it was the best it could be. He even hired a professional editor to help him with the final touches.

 

Once the book was ready, John turned to the internet to market and sell his book. He used the power of social media platforms to create buzz around his book and offered free copies to reviewers in exchange for honest feedback. Slowly but surely though, the book began to gain more traction and popularity, and pretty soon positive reviews praising the book started pouring in. As the sales of the book started to pick up, John realized that he had finally found his calling. He had finally found a way to share his passion with the world, and he was doing it on his own terms. He continued to write and self-publish more books, each one better than the last every time. Years went by, and John became a well-known author with a dedicated fan base. His books were now being picked up by major publishers, and he was being offered lucrative deals left and right. But John knew that he had earned his success through hard work and perseverance. He had refused to give up on his dreams and had fought against all odds to make them a reality.

Chapter Three

As John's success grew, he never forgot the struggles he faced in the beginning. He knew that there were other aspiring writers out there who were facing the same challenges he did, and he wanted to help them in any way he could. So, he started a mentorship program for writers who were just starting out. John's program was designed to give aspiring writers the tools and guidance they really needed to succeed in the industry. He offered one-on-one coaching sessions, and writing workshops, and even helped them self-publish their own books. Through his program, John was able to help countless writers achieve their dreams. But despite all the success he had achieved, John knew that there was always room for growth and improvement. He continued to challenge himself by writing in new genres and experimenting with different writing styles. He never wanted to become complacent or comfortable with his success.

One day, John received a call from a Hollywood producer who had read one of his books and was interested in turning it into a movie. John was thrilled at the opportunity, but he also knew that the process of adapting a book into a movie was not an easy one. He worked closely with the producer and the screenwriter to make sure that his story was faithfully adapted for the big screen. The movie was a huge success, and it brought even more attention to John's books. He was now a household name, and his books were being translated into multiple languages and sold all over the world. But despite all the fame and fortune, John remained grounded and focused on what really mattered to him – his writing. In the end, John's journey had come full circle. From a struggling writer who couldn't get his foot in the door, to a successful author who had made a name for himself on his own terms, and finally, to a mentor who was helping other aspiring writers achieve their dreams. It was a journey that had been filled with challenges and setbacks, but John had never given up. And as he looked back on all that he had accomplished, he knew that he had truly lived his dream.
